Terms of Service

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Welcome to Finglish. These terms are the deal between you and the operator of Finglish when you use our Persian-learning web app at tryfinglish.com, our emails, and anything else we run under the Finglish name (together, the "Service").

Who you are dealing with. The Service is run by Finglish ("Finglish", "we", "us"). You contract with us, not with Paddle (see section 4). Our contact details are in section 21.

By using the Service, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The short version

  • Module 1 is free, with no account and no card.
  • A free account saves your progress and unlocks the review games.
  • Full Access is a subscription, monthly ($14.99) or annual ($99.99). It renews until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, and you get a full refund if you ask within 14 days of your first payment.
  • Paddle takes your payment as our reseller and Merchant of Record.
  • You keep what you create. We use your learning data to run and improve Finglish, as the Privacy Policy explains.
  • Be kind, do not copy the course or share your login, and we will all get along.

The rest of this page is the full version.

2. Using Finglish

Free use. Module 1 is free to play without an account. When you play as a guest, your progress lives in your browser on your device. Clearing your browser data can erase it.

Accounts. A free account saves your progress across devices and unlocks the review games. When you create one, creating an account means you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. You must give us a real email address and keep your login private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us quickly if you think someone else is using it.

Who can use Finglish.

  • You must be at least 13 to use the Service. If your country sets a higher age for agreeing to online services or data use (it is 14, 15 or 16 in some European countries), you must be at least that old, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.
  • If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.
  • Only people who are 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live) may buy a subscription. A parent or guardian may buy one for a child. If someone under 18 buys without a parent's or guardian's permission, the parent or guardian can email us and we will refund the charges.
  • You may not use the Service if we have previously closed your account for breaking these terms, or if you are in a country or on a list where US law forbids us to serve you (section 19).

3. Plans and prices

Finglish has a free tier and a paid plan called Full Access. Full Access unlocks every module after the free one, now and as we add more, along with the story conversations. It comes in two plans:

  • Monthly: $14.99 USD every month.
  • Annual: $99.99 USD once a year.

Current prices are shown on our Pricing page and again at checkout before you pay, plus any tax added at checkout.

Price lock. The price you subscribe at stays the same for as long as your subscription stays active without a break. If you cancel and come back later, or your subscription ends because a payment failed and is not fixed, the price shown at that time applies. If you switch between the monthly and annual plans, the price of the plan you switch to at that time applies, and is then locked in the same way. The lock covers our price only. It does not cover taxes, currency conversion by your bank, or add-ons that we may sell separately in the future. If we ever raise prices for new subscribers, current subscribers keep their price under this rule.

Free trials and discounts. We do not offer a free trial. If we ever run a promotion, its own terms will be shown before you buy.

4. Payments and subscriptions

Paddle is our Merchant of Record. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle takes your payment, calculates and collects sales tax or VAT, issues your receipt, and handles payment-related support. Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms apply to your purchase. We never see or store your full card number.

Automatic renewal. Full Access is a subscription. When you subscribe, you authorize Paddle to charge your payment method the price of your plan (plus tax) now, and then again at the end of each period until you cancel: $14.99 USD every month on the same date for the monthly plan, or $99.99 USD every year on the same date for the annual plan. The checkout shows your total before you pay, and your receipt confirms the amount and the date of your next charge.

Renewal reminders. We or Paddle will email you before each annual renewal (between 15 and 45 days ahead), and at least once a year while you are on the monthly plan. Each reminder says how much you will be charged, how often, and how to cancel.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, Paddle may try again. If it still fails, your Full Access may pause or end. You remain responsible for amounts that were owed.

Taxes. Tax is calculated by Paddle from your billing country and postcode, and shown before you pay.

5. Cancelling and refunds

Cancel anytime, online. You can cancel in your Finglish account under Manage subscription, or from the "Manage subscription" link in any Paddle receipt, or by emailing support@tryfinglish.com. Cancelling stops future charges. Your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for (the month, or the year on the annual plan). We do not give partial refunds for unused time after that period begins, except as our Refund Policy or the law requires.

14-day refund. If Full Access is not for you, ask within 14 days of your first payment and you get that payment back in full. The steps are on our Refund Policy page.

If we end the Service or your plan without cause. If we shut Finglish down, or end your subscription for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the part of your current paid period that you did not get.

6. What you may and may not do

You may use Finglish for your own personal learning. You may not:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to commit fraud, send spam, or harm other people;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property rights;
  • interfere with the Service's security or operation, including by introducing malware, probing or testing for vulnerabilities without our written permission, overloading it, or bypassing the free/paid limits;
  • scrape, crawl, copy, record, redistribute or resell the lessons, audio, text, images or characters, or use them (or any output of the Service) to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning or AI model;
  • use bots, scripts or other automation to take lessons, earn XP or climb the leaderboard;
  • share your login so that others get paid access without paying, or sell or transfer your account;
  • choose a nickname or send a report or message that is hateful, harassing, sexual, or that pretends to be someone else;
  • reverse engineer or try to extract the source code of the Service, except where the law says you may;
  • use the Service in any way that breaks these terms or the law.

We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules (see section 13).

7. Our content and your licence to use it

The Service, including the lessons, the course structure, the audio and voices, the characters and art, the text, the software, the names "Finglish" and "Iranopedia", and the logos, belongs to us or our licensors. We keep all rights that we do not expressly give you.

While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial learning. That is all you get. Nothing here transfers any ownership to you.

8. Your content and your learning data

What counts. "Your Content" means what you put into the Service: your typed answers, your nickname, your replies in story chats, and your reports and feedback. "Learning Data" means information about how you use the lessons, such as which steps you completed, how you answered, how long you took, your XP and streaks, and the words you find hard.

You keep ownership of Your Content. We do not claim to own your answers or messages.

What you let us do with it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, analyze, and use Your Content and your Learning Data for the following purposes: to run the Service for you; to schedule your reviews; to keep the Service safe; to fix bugs; to research and improve our lessons, scoring, audio and features; and to build, train, test and improve our own models, tools and datasets. Before we use Your Content or Learning Data to build a dataset or to train a model, we remove direct identifiers from it (such as your name, email and account ID). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and your choices, and it controls how we use anything that identifies you.

Voice recordings are different. When you record yourself to practise, the recording stays on your device. We do not keep your voice recordings, and we do not use them to train or improve anything. If we ever add a setting that lets adults share recordings to improve our speech features, it will be off by default, have its own consent screen, and you will be able to turn it off at any time.

Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, with no payment or credit owed to you.

Leaderboard. If you appear on a leaderboard, others can see your nickname and XP. You can hide yourself in your account settings.

9. Audio and AI voices

Lesson audio may be recorded by human voices or generated by AI text-to-speech. AI voices may sometimes sound unnatural or be wrong. Tell us through the flag in the lesson and we will fix it.

10. Learning Persian: what we can and cannot promise

We work hard to teach everyday spoken Persian well, in the way families really speak it. Persian varies by region, age and family, so what you learn here may differ from what someone you know says. We cannot promise any particular result, level of fluency, or speed of progress. Finglish is for learning and enjoyment. It is not a certified translation service, and it does not replace a qualified teacher or translator where accuracy matters.

11. Other companies and links

The Service works with other companies, such as Paddle for payments and our hosting and email providers. Their own terms apply to what they provide. We are not responsible for websites or services that we do not run, even if we link to them.

12. Changes to the Service

We keep improving Finglish, so features, lessons and modules may change, move or be retired. We may also pause the Service for maintenance. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paying subscriber gets, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel and, if the change takes away what you paid for, receive a refund for the unused part of your paid period.

13. Suspending and ending your account

You can stop using Finglish at any time. You can delete your account in your account settings. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first (or ask us and we will help), so that nobody is charged after your account is gone.

We can suspend or close your account, or limit access, if you materially breach these terms, if a payment is overdue, if we reasonably believe you are committing fraud or putting the security of the Service or other people at risk, or if you repeatedly break the rules after a warning. Where we can, we will warn you first and explain why. If we close your account for your breach, we do not refund the current paid period. If we close it for any other reason, section 5 applies.

What survives. Sections that by their nature should continue, including sections 7, 8, 14 to 18, 20 and 21, keep applying after your account ends.

14. Disclaimers

We provide the Service "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not make any promises or warranties, express or implied, about the Service, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available, that every lesson or recording is free of mistakes, or that it will meet your needs. This does not remove rights you have under laws that cannot be waived.

15. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service; and
  • our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, and (b) US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

16. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless us, and our contractors and service providers, from claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of someone else's rights or of the law. We will tell you promptly about any claim we want you to cover, and you will help us respond to it. This section does not apply to consumers where the law of their home country does not allow it.

17. Governing law and how we settle disputes

Governing law. These terms and any dispute between you and us are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement below. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the place where you live.

Talk to us first. Most problems are quick to fix. Before starting any formal claim, email support@tryfinglish.com with your account email and a description of the problem. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.

Please read this part carefully. It affects your rights.

Individual arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree to resolve it only by binding individual arbitration, not in court, except as set out below. The arbitration will be run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which are available at adr.org. The AAA's rules set who pays which fees, and we will pay the fees we are required to pay under them. The arbitration may be held by video or phone, or in the county where you live, as you choose, and the arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could.

What stays in court. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. Either of us may go to court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Any court case allowed by this section is brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we each agree to those courts' jurisdiction.

No class actions. You and we may bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action. The arbitrator may not combine claims. If this class waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court and is not arbitrated, and a court (not an arbitrator) decides it.

No jury trial. To the extent a claim is in court, you and we each waive the right to a jury trial.

Mass filings. If 25 or more similar claims are filed against us by the same lawyers or group within a short time, they will be handled in batches of up to 10 test cases at a time, and the others wait until those are resolved. A court can enforce this part.

Your right to opt out. You can opt out of arbitration and this class waiver within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing support@tryfinglish.com with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" and your account email. Opting out does not affect any other part of these terms.

Where you live matters. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place where the law gives you the right to bring consumer claims in your own courts and does not allow this arbitration agreement, that law applies and nothing in this section takes it away.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top will change. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel and stop using the Service before the change takes effect and we will refund the unused part of your paid period. Changes to the dispute resolution section only apply to disputes that start after the change.

19. Export, sanctions and where we serve

We are based in the United States and follow US export-control and sanctions laws. You confirm that you are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region that is subject to a US embargo or comprehensive sanctions, and that you are not on a US government list of prohibited parties. Our payment partner Paddle does not support purchases from certain countries and regions and will block those purchases. We may restrict access to the Service where we are required to by law.

20. The legal fine print

  • Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If part is unenforceable. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a right right away, we have not given it up.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor or to another person or company that takes over the Finglish business, as long as they keep to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
  • Notices. We may give notice by email to your account address or by a notice in the Service. You can give notice by emailing us.
  • Events beyond our control. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of internet or cloud providers, power failures, or natural disasters.
  • No third-party rights. Nobody else can enforce these terms, except that Paddle may rely on the parts that protect it.
  • Language. If we translate these terms, the English version controls where the law allows.
